Mikko Helander new CEO for M-real, Hannu Anttila to become Executive Vice President, Strategy, for Metsäliitto Group

Metsäliitto Group will rotate top management in order to speed up the process of creating a new, more efficient and profitable Metsäliitto Group.

“We are in the process of creating the new future Metsäliitto Group. As part of our revised strategy M-real has today announced a large restructuring programme. In addition to M-real’s initiative, the Metsäliitto Group top management will be rotated as we want to ensure a solid execution of the strategy enabling us to reach our targets within the agreed time frame”, says Kari Jordan, President and CEO, Metsäliitto Group.

Management rotation includes the following appointments:

• Current CEO of Metsä Tissue, Mikko Helander (M.Sc.), 46, has been appointed new CEO for M-real as of 18.10.2006. Besides running the daily operations, his responsibility is to carry out the new restructuring programme with the support of a restructuring team. He will be a member of Metsäliitto Group Executive Management Team.
• Current CEO of M-real, Hannu Anttila (M.Sc. Econ.), 51, has been appointed Executive Vice President, Strategy, for Metsäliitto Group. His main responsibilities include managing the Metsäliitto Group strategy process and Group structural development. He will also continue as a member of the Metsäliitto Group Executive Management Team.

“These appointments reflect the rapidly changing global environment within the forest industry sector. Metsäliitto Group needs strong execution capabilities combined with long-term strategic planning as the Group wants to ensure its position as one of leading European players within the sector creating additional value for its 131,000 Finnish owners,” says Kari Jordan.

Metsä Tissue Board of Directors will touch upon the CEO issue in its next meeting, 24.10.2006.
